About Me

Welcome to The Well Fed Baby! My name is Meghan and I’ve been a Registered Nurse working with parents and babies for almost my entire nursing career. I’ve spent the past 10+ years working as an RN in the NICU at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and more recently became one of the NICU’s lactation consultants.

I currently live north of Boston with my husband, our 3 young children, and our dog, Gretchen. Having my own children is what really helped me find my passion as a lactation consultant. I’ve had 3 very different breastfeeding experiences with my kids and appreciate the successes and challenges that come with breastfeeding, pumping, and bottle feeding.

I graduated with a BSN in nursing from Saint Anselm College in 2008 and have been working as a nurse ever since. Early on in my nursing career, I became a CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) to become more well equipped to support lactating parents in the NICU. In 2020, I started working per diem doing outpatient lactation visits and loved being able to help people in the comfort of their own home. In 2021, I decided to pursue my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) certification. As an RN and IBCLC, I have extensive experience, knowledge, and education to help support you wherever you are on your breastfeeding journey.

Support services

Initial Lactation Consult

This is an in home consult and may last up to 2 hours. This visit is for anyone I am working with for the first time. Together, we will come up with a personalized care plan for you and your baby to help meet your breastfeeding goals. At this visit, we can cover positioning your baby at the breast, trouble shooting any issues with baby’s latch, breast or nipple pain, milk supply, milk flow, and any combination of these concerns. You may also want to book an initial visit if you have been using a nipple shield or SNS device, or if you had a baby in the NICU/Special Care Nursery and are just starting to feed your baby at the breast. I can do a pre and post feed weight of the baby with a highly accurate infant scale to see how much milk the baby is able to transfer at the breast. We can also review breast pump use and strategies at this visit if time allows.

If you are exclusively pumping and wish to book an initial visit, we can take a deeper dive into use of your specific pump and come up with a pumping schedule for you.

Price: $350

Follow-Up Lactation Consult

A follow-up visit is for clients who I have met with previously to evaluate your initial care plan and make changes as necessary.  This is an in home consult and may last up to 1.5 hours. Anyone who I have worked with previously is welcome to book a follow up visit, but I always recommend a follow up appointment for anyone who is being treated for mastitis or plugged ducts, using a nipple shield, “triple feeding” (breastfeeding, pumping, then bottle feeding), or has a baby who has been treated for any oral restrictions (i.e. tongue tie, lip tie). An updated plan of care will be provided.

Virtual Lactation Consult

A virtual consult is a convenient option for anyone looking for guidance or advice about breastfeeding or pumping that does not require an in person assessment. These visits can last up to 1.5 hours. Virtual consults are ideal if you would like to discuss a pumping schedule and feeding plan for returning to work, weaning, or have a list of other general breastfeeding or pumping questions.

Price: $275

Bottle Feeding Support

If you are experiencing any challenges with bottle feeding, I can make recommendations  for a specific bottle to use as well as strategies to make bottle feeding smoother. This is an in person consult and may last up to 1.5 hours. This consult is especially helpful if you have been exclusively breastfeeding and you need guidance on how and when to introduce a bottle, or if you have a baby who will not easily take a bottle (or has been refusing to take one at all!)

Prenatal Consult (Virtual)

There’s a lot to think about before you have a baby! If you’re pregnant and still deciding how you’re going to feed your baby, or if you have decided and have questions about it, The Well Fed Baby can help! During a prenatal consult, we can discuss some breastfeeding basics, what you might want to bring to the hospital, breast pump options, and cover any other infant feeding questions you may have before your baby arrives. This is scheduled as a virtual consult and can last up to 1 hour, but if you prefer an in person appointment we can arrange that as well.
